February 20, Alexandra Palace: a mesmerising show of talent and charm that ensnared the crowd in its allure.

Masego serenaded the sold-out 10,000-capacity Alexandra Palace, transporting the crowd to his ‘melody garden’ as he made his way through his set.

The London show of the Where We Goin tour kicked off with the 2017 hit Navajo. The saxophone did most of the singing for him but with the crowd singing the lyrics the night started with an ambience that set the tone for the rest of the show.

The audience was in the palm of his hand.

Queen Tings was seamlessly transitioned into and the flirting of Masego began. With favourites Old Age and Lady Lady the seductive R&B of Masego had the audience swooning.

The crowd was made his backup singers, not only was he performing he was composing. With the crowd fulfilling their role, the artistry flourished, as he showed off his vocals. Despite being known for his soft, velvety voice he showed a more powerful, raspier side elevating songs past their studio versions.

A dynamic rendition of Yamz came around halfway through the set with him getting on his knees as he belted notes like a true R&B star and played with actual yams on stage.

As well as sax solos the crowd was treated to drum and guitar solos by his band. The musicality of the night was extraordinary and enhanced when Masego decided to produce a beat impulsively and freestyle to it.

As the show started to draw to a close the energy picked up with an amped-up delivery of Kings Rant with an audience member performing the song on stage. The star of the show took to the sidelines juggling yams allowing the audience member to own the moment.

Tadow, the encore, was the perfect closing to the night. A romantic song to draw the curtain on an intimate night between artist and fans.

The tour may be called where we goin but those at Alexandra Palace must have been glad to know they landed in the right place that night.
